Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process?

1) Fill in the information form for the building you need on the quote page.

2) An acknowledgement email will be sent back to you and may have a question or two for you asking for clarification.

3) An As Big As A Barn Metal Building Associate will review your information.

4) A proposal will be put together for the building specified by you or and email stating that we can not meet your requirements.

5) Changes and alterations to the design, color, insulation, features and options is normal and expected.

6) Once you approve the building and submit your down payment, the design is submitted for engineering approval.

7) A packet of information for your review on the building colors, options and ship to destination are sent to you for final conformation.

8) Please apply for your building permit, should one be required. Permit regulations vary by county and State, start investigating the requirer in your area as soon as you have decided to add a building to your property.

9) Make arrangements to have the building erected or if you plan to do it your self get prepared.

10) Plans return from engineering with stamp, your representative releases your building for productions.

11) Your building is delivered to your site, with instruction manual and all components.

How long does the process take?

1) A proposal should come in 1 to 2 weeks.

2) Engineering Package in 7 to 10 working days.

3) Permit approval in 2 to 3 weeks. Check with your local building department for lead times in your area to get approval.

4) Building delivered in 2 to 3 weeks.

Are there other things I need to think about?
Sure, there are many things.

1) Exposure rating, wind speed and snow load for your area are important for the building design. Also, soil, pad and slab or pier requirements for your area.

2) Asthetics.

• Windows – How many? What size? Single or Double pane?

• Doors – Personal Access - How many?

• Doors – Large Opening – How many? What Size? Allow 2’ for door hardware on height to building eave and 6” on total width.

What type? – Roll-up or Sectional Garage?
• Siding and Roof – What Colors? What gauge? We offer 26ga as standard in “Classic Rib” pattern with a 45 year warranty.

• Trim – What color?

• Insulation – Vapour Barrier, or an R11.74 Foil Sided ¼” Poly Insulation or something in fiber glass. Note: Fiber glass insulation over 3” thick is harder to install.

• Landscaping or placement of items around building once built.
